May – December 2001

The Primary 7’s did a project about the new school. We interviewed Mr. Corr about his 44 years as principal and then Miss Claire Orr, one of the main architects, came to the school and we had an interview with her.

On Thursday 14 June 2001, guests, staff and children went to the site of the new school. Bishop McKeown blessed the site and Mr. Nigel Hamilton from the Department of Education cut the first sod with help from Victoria (P.1) and Orla (P.7).

The P.7 pupils wrote some poetry to celebrate this historic event.

On Tuesday 19 June 2001 the first bulldozer arrived on the site of the new school. This was the start of 14 months of building work.

In June the P1’s visited the site with Mrs McCrory.
